The Kindred Collection includes a lightweight and elegant rotating car seat, a stroller with 360-degree rotation and a 360-degree rotating high chair. But the standouts of the collection are two bassinets equipped with innovative AI functions that the brand says can decode your little one’s cries. The new Kindred Collection from Maxi-Cosi has a number of innovative features, including the use of … [+] AI technology to help soothe your baby. Illustration: Forbes / Photo: Maxi-Cosi We spoke with Natalie Thompson, the director of brand marketing, about the inspiration behind the Kindred Collection. “Each piece is meticulously designed to harmonize with your home’s décor, ensuring your baby’s comfort is never compromised,” Thompson says. “These products are a testament to our commitment to cater to the evolving needs of modern and tech-savvy families, infused with state-of-the-art technology.” The collection has a unique look that’s tied together with metal accents, premium recycled fabrics, ash wood and rattan details. Starling Bassinet The Starling’s linen-printed base and sleek control panel give it a sophisticated look. Maxi Cosi With the use of responsive tech and elevated design, the Starling Smart Bassinet could be a competitor of the Snoo Smart bassinet. (The Maxi-Cosi Cassia Baby Swing is our pick for the best smart baby swing.) The bassinet “doubles as a high-tech monitor, featuring our cutting-edge CryAssist technology that translates your baby’s cries,” Thompson explains. “It immediately responds to your baby’s cry with one of its five natural calming motions to lull them back to sleep.” It can play five soothing sounds through the built-in Bluetooth speaker, all with customizable timers. Sibia Bassinet The Sibia bassinet has a dimmable night light, as well as CryAssist. Maxi-Cosi This foldable bassinet looks slightly different from the Starling but comes with the same technology, including CryAssist. We also love that this one has a dimmable night light on the bassinet with an automatic motion sensor. This feature could be handy for middle-of-the-night wake-ups or check-ins. The built-in soother plays five sounds, like lullabies and white noise, so you won’t need to purchase a separate sound machine for baby. Both bassinets pair with the free Connected Family app. The app allows parents and caregivers to customize the bassinet’s response, which can be done anytime and from anywhere on your smartphone or tablet. 360-Degree Rotation: Tana Stroller and Kiskadee High Chair The Maxi-Cosi has developed both the Tana 360 Degree Rotating Modular Stroller and the Kiskadee 360 Degree Rotating High Chair to give parents more flexibility. Both rotate a full 360 degrees, allowing you to quickly and easily position your baby in the best way at that moment. The chic and modern stroller lets your baby face you as you push, or turns to give them a forward-facing view. The stroller has faux wood accents on the frame, a quilted canopy, mesh seat and a spacious basket under the seat. The highchair also has a faux wooden frame and lucite accents. The Tana 360 Degree Rotating Modular Stroller gives caregivers the option to have their child face … [+] forward or back. Maxi-Cosi Kindred Collection Product Development Thompson explained that the research process involved in developing these AI-assisted products has been in the works for years. The CryAssist “is backed by over five years of scientific research in collaboration with pediatricians, clinical researchers and hospitals worldwide,” she says. “Each cry is analyzed against an extensive database of more than 100,000 hours of real babies’ cries to help parents understand if their little one may be sleepy, fussy, gassy, agitated or hungry.” According to the brand, the technology isn’t static, as the machine learning algorithm continually responds to feedback to deliver parents personalized information with data that is encrypted and kept anonymous. “So you can be confident knowing the data remains private,” Thompson says. Thompson shares that in their testing, “We received overwhelming feedback around the accuracy of the translations and how much parents trusted and found them useful. The modern parent has shown a deep desire to have this technology integrated into a suite of products that help make their parenting journey easier.” For parents who prefer to use the products without the technology-enabled, that’s also an option. “Each of CryAssist’s response-based features is also optional, ensuring control is always in parents hands,” she says. The products will be available in late summer 2024 and sold at MaxiCosi, Nordstrom, Crate & Kids, Babylist and independent specialty stores.
