Swifties are surrounding the Anfield stadium and stewards are over it. Crowds of Taylor Swift fans were asked to clear off from outside Anfield stadium in Liverpool, with stewards urging the throng to “move on.” The Echo learned that staff at the LFC home ground directed groups who showed up hoping to catch a snippet of the Eras Tour to head over to Stanley Park instead. It’s no surprise really; Swifties have been known to gather outside her concerts. Back in May 2023, viral clips captured thousands singing along outside her Philadelphia concert in the US, and similar scenes have unfolded at nearly every stop of the Eras Tour. Luckily, they didn’t have to stray too far, and crowds were spotted having a blast in nearby Stanley Park. Despite a relentless downpour soaking Liverpool FC’s home turf this evening, it hasn’t quenched the enthusiasm of the legion of Swifties who turned up to support their icon, reports the Liverpool Echo. Paramore got the ball rolling around 6.30pm, followed by Taylor making her grand entrance just after 7.30pm. Fans of all ages tuned in from the park, after thousands missed out on tickets when they went on sale last year. The Eras Tour sees the Grammy-award winning singer, 34, perform for more than three hours to thousands of fans. She performs more than 45 songs from her back catalogue that include songs from Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, Midnights and her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department. The show leaves fans stunned as Taylor sings and dances non-stop, in all weather conditions – whether that be rain, shine, or bitterly cold British wind. This show was quite special for not only Swifties but for Taylor as she broke the attendance record at Anfield Stadium. She shared a moment with her fans and thanked them. Taylor said: “So, I just want to say, those things mean the world to us getting to play this show for people who would go so far above and beyond for us and welcome us to Liverpool in such a fashion. We love you so much and, you know, while I was walking to the stage, they pulled me aside and told me another thing you did for us tonight.” She continued: “And that thing is that you, you broke the all time attendance record for this stadium tonight. Don’t you just love knowing there’s never been as many people in this room as there are right now? I, personally, love that feeling.”
