Akshay Kumar is one of the most successful superstars of Bollywood, and is known for his efficient work ethic. Several of his closest collaborators have revealed in the past that Akshay is usually the first person on set, and has the ability to get through his scenes at a rapid pace. Of course, to maintain this high efficiency, he has certain processes in place. Veteran actor Farida Jalal recently revealed on of them. She said that he reads his dialogues off a white board mounted behind a camera on set. Farida Jalal, who has shared the screen with Akshay in several films, was asked about actor Bhumi Pednekar’s revelation that Akshay reads his dialogues off a white board that is mounted behind the camera. Farida said that it’s true. “Pehle aisa nahi tha (he was not like that before),” she replied. She further said, “I have done so many films with him. Elaan, Aflatoon, Dil To Pagal Hai, he was not like that at all. Ab ho gaya, he’s done so many films, won so many awards, he has (learnt and said) so many dialogues. Ab hota hai (it happens), give him that much, otherwise he is so perfect. How he does it? It is a talent that you don’t come to know that he is reading out his dialogues.” She continued, “Hats off to him, I won’t be able to do it. I would never be able to read the dialogues and act at the same time, but he manages and does it well. Give it to the man, very good, kya baat hai (that’s great).” Akshay’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Raksha Bandhan co-star Bhumi Pednekar had earlier opened up about how Akshay reads his dialogues from cue cards while giving the shot. Bhumi had also described it as his “talent” and “an art”. Bhumi said that contrary to what people might think, Akshay actually memorises his lines beforehand, but there is a person holding up his dialogues on a board during the take. She had told The Lallantop, “Akshay sir actually memorises his lines. I asked him, ‘Why do you have this?’ He said, ‘So that I am in the moment’. So I was like, maybe its is his process.” In the same interview, Farida had also spoken about working with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and others. She said, “Shah Rukh Khan is a stubborn person. Otherwise, he is extremely loving and caring. I don’t think he is someone who compromises very much, if he wants something, he will strive towards it till he has it. He is extremely ambitious. I knew he would someday become a big man, and today he is, I am so proud of him. On the other hand, Salman Khan is a very laid-back person. He is very bindass. Aamir Khan keeps pulling pranks on sets. But, I didn’t get to do enough films with him. I would also love to add that Hrithik is a hard worker. Everybody put hard work in their respective jobs, but there is no comparison with Hrithik Roshan. I salute his efforts. I love him a lot.”
