Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) has announced this year’s winners of the annual Exceptional Healer Awards. Launched in 2017, the award recognizes excellence by a physician, nurse or allied health professional at KHSC. Healthcare professionals are nominated by KHSC patients, and winners are selected by members of KHSC’s Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). This year’s winners are Dr. Garth Smith with KidsInclusive and Registered Nurse Lisa Thibeault with the Inherited Bleeding Disorders Program. “The humility, contagious positive energy and good sense of humour shown by this year’s winners make a significant difference to their patients,” says Sue Bedell, founder of the Exceptional Healer Award and member of PFAC. “I am in awe of the simple human kindness they show every day.”
