Prince Harry is bracing for a challenging Father’s Day amid public scrutiny, as royal commentators speculate whether he will extend an olive branch to his father, King Charles. Observers are keenly awaiting the Duke of Sussex’s move on Sunday, 16 June as ‘the world is watching to see if he’s big enough’ to reach out to his dad. Since relocating to Montecito, California with Meghan Markle four years ago, Prince Harry has made only sporadic visits back to the UK. with just two trips this year. His last visit was prompted by King Charles’ cancer news, during which Harry managed a brief half-hour meeting with his father, OK! reports. He also returned for an Invictus Games event at St Paul’s Cathedral but missed the chance to see the King due to clashing schedules. As Father’s Day looms, Royal author Tom Quinn shared with the Mirror: “King Charles’ birthday and Father’s Day are both a nightmare for Harry. “He knows the world will be watching to see whether he is big enough to reach out to his father. He is determined to try to ignore his troubled relationship with his father and he will certainly send a warm message.” Quinn added: “It’s easy to forget that Harry really does love his father, he just hates the fact that Charles seems always to support William when there is a family dispute.” Tom has spilled the beans that Prince Harry is hitting a wall trying to arrange a chat with his dad. He’s been trying to get a call in the diary, but it seems there’s some hesitation on the other end, with Camilla reportedly advising against any move that might ruffle King Charles’ feathers. Tom disclosed: “Harry has tried to schedule a call with his father already, but his father is prevaricating with Camilla advising against anything that might upset King Charles.” With Father’s Day just around the corner on 16 June and the King’s official birthday bash set for 17 June, not to mention his actual birthday on 14 November, the Royal Family dynamic is under the microscope. These claims come just days after it was revealed that the King is keen to forge a closer bond with Harry’s little ones, five year old Prince Archie and two year old Princess Lilibet. A close source revealed: “The King is absolutely committed to being present in all of his grandchildren’s lives. He values family above everything and whatever the course of his relationship with his son he would never be content with just seeing his grandchildren on the odd video call.” Get the latest celebrity gossip and telly news sent straight to your inbox.
