The Town of Cambridge announced the $655,000 cash splash from Lotterywest last week, which will go towards new equipment, better training facilities for lifesavers and expanded spaces for community events and educational programs. It comes a month after the club received another $655,000 grant — this time from the State Government — which focused on accessibility improvements such as the installation of an accessible front door and universal access toilets with showers. It will improve the club’s rescue services and encourage more community involvement in lifesaving activities and beach safety education,” Mr Mack said. Floreat SLSC president Cathy McIntyre was enthusiastic about the club’s “next phase”. ‘Transformative moment’ REVEALED: Floreat surf club’s upgrade plans with $655k boost “Receiving this grant is a fantastic opportunity for the club to be all-inclusive and to support both our members and the wider community,” Ms McIntyre said. “Our club is grateful and appreciates the support that has been given by the town, Lotterywest, and the State Government. We cannot wait for the next phase of our club upgrade to begin.” The redevelopment project is set to begin later this year and expected to be completed next year.
