A man from New York has gone viral on social media after sharing his honest review of a series of different British convenience store foods that are not easily found in America. In a viral video shared on TikTok in March, under the username rwarden87, poster Ryan Warden can be seen trying four different types of British snacks, some savory and some sweet, and sharing his thoughts on them with his followers.”I live in Manhattan and I have discovered a shop that sells British food items that are not otherwise available in American stores,” he says in the clip, “so I’m working my way through recommendations that you all sent me.”First on his list were Quavers, a cheese-flavored potato snack with a name he found particularly interesting.”I cannot believe that you all get away with calling something Quavers. It’s very E.L. James, isn’t it? I mean Quavers! I would blush to eat something called Quavers in front of my grandmother.”Next, another potato snack called Hula Hoops, which come in different flavors, but Warden decided to go for salt and vinegar. While their intense flavor did impress, Warden wasn’t a fan of the shape.”For the Hula Hoops, I’ve since been told by approximately 5 million people that you’re supposed to put them on your fingers like rings and eat them off,” said the 36-year-old.On the sweet side, he tried Wagon Wheels, a cookie and marshmallow snack covered by a thick chocolate coating, which Warden didn’t particularly enjoy. He told Newsweek: “The Wagon Wheels were disappointing; [they] were probably my least favorite item I’ve tried on the series overall.”I was expecting something similar to what we would have as a s’more, but the entire thing just fell a little flat. I’ve since been told that there are also Wagon Wheels with jam inside and that I should try those.”On the other hand, the fourth and last snack of his Episode 11 of trying British food, small cakes called French Fancies, really seemed to impress him.”I love this. It’s light, it’s airy, it’s sweet, the taste is really good. This sponge cake in the middle here, that’s perfect! They are meant to be eaten over tea while you’re talking gossip about the new woman down the road who doesn’t butter her sandwiches, aren’t they?”The video quickly went viral on TikTok. It has so far received over 1.3 million views and 93,200 likes on the platform. One user, Chegg, commented: “He understood French Fancies on a level that only British people could normally understand and I think that’s beautiful.”Kirsty said: “You got the wrong wagon wheels.. the blue pack with the jam inside are so much better.”Amesswing wrote: “I’m British and in all my life not once have I ever read the Quavers packet.”Lottie said of Hula Hoops: “The hoop shape is OBVIOUSLY so you can put one on each fingertip and then eat them off one at a time.”
