Jameel Khan, who is winning hearts as Santosh Mishra from Gullak, has also been part of several Bollywood films starring Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles. Jameel, who is originally a theatre artist, recently recalled working with these stars. Jameel’s first encounter was with Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan when he collaborated with them for his first film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999). Jameel’s first film was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. In a conversation with the indianexpress.com, Jameel recalled working with the lead stars of the film. He said, “Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai, what do I say, it was long time ago that I worked with them. They are both good actors, they are stars. But, the good thing is the family that was in the film, we were all theatre actors. We had our own group. Despite being new and not fresh in front of the camera, maybe we were not aware of the technicalities of filmmaking but the confidence was there as an actor. So we weren’t unnerved due to the presence of Salman or Aishwarya. We were just doing our thing and having fun.” He added, “And they were very nice to us. I am sure Sanjay must have told them about us. And we too did have conversations with them about our work and stuff, so they were well aware of the fact that we weren’t random actors, that they are good.” Jameel also had an opportunity of working with Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu in the 2007 film Cheeni Kum. We have grown up watching him. I have idealised him and we also happen to be from the same school. So I share a deep connection with him. He is a charmer and has got a wonderful memory. You cannot but love him and obviously there is awe and respect for that man from all quarters. And he walks into a set and there is a different buzz. And he has earned it, he is a legend. Unki kya hi baat karu, chota mooh badi baat (what can I say about him),” said the Gullak star. Jameel who worked with Shah Rukh Khan in the 2003 film Chalte Chalte, said, “Shah Rukh is another person who is a great artiste. Has total respect and passion for his work. He respects all his co-actors and his crew all the more when he is producing it and when he is not, he still takes care of the entire unit. He plays the part of big brother.” While, lately, there have been many coming forward and talking about star tantrums on set and unrealistic demands, Jameel said, “In my entire journey, I am yet to meet a star who has misbehaved with me or has been curt. They have all been fantastic with me. Maybe I am blessed.”
