As England is set to face off Slovakia on Sunday – in the third round-of-16 game to take place as the knockout phase gets underway – the Three Lions’ wives and partners are sure to be in the stands cheering their loved ones on. And the same goes for their rivals, who will have a host of glamorous WAGs, including models, yacht business owners, and even a former Wimbledon star at the ready to support.
England have played Slovakia six times and won five of those games — the one exception being their only meeting at a major tournament to date: a 0-0 draw in the group stage at Euro 2016. However, it appears to be a team with little fear and that is testament to the job Francesco Calzona has done. But while ferocious in play – off the pitch, many of the team are in loved up dedicated relationships, often posting snaps of their families on social media.
AS Trenčín midfielder Matúš Kmeť, 24, tied the knot to his girlfriend Alexa just two weeks ago. Elsewhere, Dávid Hancko, 26, who plays for the Slovakia national football team and Feyenoord, is married to a fellow athlete Kristyna – a former professional tennis player who has played at the US Open and Wimbledon. Meanwhile Vernon De Marco, 31, who plays for UAE Pro League club Hatta, is understood to have a wife and child who often feature on his social media, but their names are not known. Ivan Schranz, 30 – of Slavia Prague – also appears to be in a relationship, with a child, but not much is known about the family beyond photos on Instagram. Ľubomír Tupta, 26, also appears to feature a young family on his socials. However, the group also includes tumultuous exes. Star player Stanislav Lobotka appears to be currently single – but has a child with a past Eurovision contestant Daniela Nizlova. According to a 2021 article from Pluska, the couple’s relationship collapsed and an insider claimed that Daniela was ‘causing him big problems’. ‘She asks him for 10,000 euros a month for herself and 10,000 euros for the little one,’ they alleged. The website claimed they had reached out to Daniela for comment, but ‘she did not respond by the deadline’. Elsewhere, the player’s past also includes a brief relationship with make-up artist Zuzana Sutjakova, 44 – understood to be around 15 years his senior – who is thought to have worked with Kim Kardashian.
