Taylor Swift has revealed that Irish rockers U2 sent the US songstress a “beautiful bouquet of flowers” ahead of her first show at the Aviva Stadium on Friday. Thousands of fans headed to the massive outdoor concert on Friday as the Shake It Off hitmaker begins a three-day stint at the 51,700 size venue, many travelling from overseas to catch Taylor for her Eras Tour. Hayley Williams fronted pop-punk icons Paramore opened the stage for Taylor Swift, wowing the crowd before the Blank Space songstress began her three-plus hour show, with Williams clad in a Cranberries T-shirt.

Swift landed safely at Dublin Airport earlier on Friday, and she was quick to get a dose of that famous Irish hospitality from U2, who sent the hitmaker a stunning bouquet of flowers before she began her spate of shows. Taylor shared a picture of the bouquet and a letter on her Instagram story, saying: “Already feeling that Irish hospitality, U2 thanks for always being the classiest and the coolest.” A card could also be seen in the picture on front of the bouquet, which read: “Dear Taylor, Welcome back to our hometown… leave some of it standing?!!!! Your Irish fan club, Bono, Edge, Adam and Larry.” The legendary Vertigo rockers have never played the Aviva Stadium, but did play two shows at Lansdowne Road before it was demolished in 2008. Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam played a two-day stint at the stadium in August 1997, the same year the group released Pop.
