An all-singing-all-dancing tale of heroes and villains – with the costumes and spectacle of a Bollywood classic, to run at Queen Elizabeth Hall from 31 July – 18 Aug PRESS NIGHT FRIDAY 2ND AUGUST Pre-sale ticket revenue at Watford surpasses £100K, marking a groundbreaking milestone for RIFCO. Rifco Theatre Company recently unveiled their poster for their Southbank run after announcing that their latest production Frankie Goes To Bollywood is transferring to The Southbank’s Queen Elizabeth Hall after their run at New Theatre Cardiff. The musical opened at Watford Palace Theatre, running from Thu 25 Apr – Sat 11 May 2024 followed by a 10-day run at HOME Manchester from Wed 15 May – Sat 25 May 2024, and then a national tour covering multiple cities in the UK including Hayes, Windsor, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Cardiff, Bradford and Hornchurch. Frankie never aspired to stardom; her deepest desire was to have a close-knit, loving family. However, a serendipitous meeting with an emerging director catapults her into the Bollywood scene, landing her a role in a film and thrusting her into the spotlight. Could this glamorous world of Bollywood be the answer to her longing for family and community? As Frankie becomes immersed in the allure of fame and fortune, she ascends the glittering ladder of success. Yet, with each step, she grapples with the sacrifices and compromises she must make, questioning what she is willing to endure for the sake of success. Conceived by Rifco’s Artistic Director, Pravesh Kumar MBE, Frankie Goes to Bollywood is a dazzling, musical extravaganza of heroes, villains, and all the grandeur of a Bollywood blockbuster. This vibrant tale explores the journey of being British in Bollywood and delves into the challenges of reaching the pinnacle of fame. Inspired by traditional Bollywood music and the finest of Western musical theatre, the music for Frankie Goes to Bollywood is a meticulously crafted blend. This hybrid composition aims to captivate both Bollywood enthusiasts and fans of classic West End spectacles.
