Acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who has done several successful projects in Bollywood, is currently on a promotion spree for his new series called “Bad Cop.” During these promotions, he often shares fascinating anecdotes chronicling his journey through the Hindi filming industry.
Anurag Kashyap recently opened up about an incident that resulted in a night spent at the police station during an interview with Samay Raina on his YouTube channel. When asked if he had ever been to jail, Kashyap responded, “Yes, I have. I slapped the wrong person—somebody you are not supposed to.”
He informed me that he was jailed overnight. Furthermore, Kashyap went ahead to reveal that locking him up eventually proved instrumental in transforming his life. He stated, “The man who put me in lock-up also got me out because he admired that I stood up for the right thing.”
In another interview with Fever FM earlier this year, Kashyap talked about working with some actors when they were just starting out and later seeing them become very successful.
However, there are cases of actors ghosting him too according to him. The director commended those who clearly said no as well as those who did not respond after taking a long time to make disparaging remarks about some others. “There are two actors who started their careers with me and then ghosted me on the film that I am doing. They didn’t care to say a yes or no; they just ghosted,” he shared.
In an Indian interpretation of the original German drama Fremantle India, Anurag Kashyap and Gulshan Devaiah star as leading characters in “Bad Cop.” Harleen Sethi, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Aishwarya Sushmita also appear on the show. Anurag Kashyap plays Kazbe Mama as a dark character who manipulates other people. As twin brothers Karan and Arjun, Gulshan Devaiah represents contrasting traits—Karan is a committed police officer while Arjun is a wily pickpocket. The events that intertwine their fates turn out to have lasting effects on both of them.
