From the police officer rapist to the 115mph killer driver, these are the latest criminals to be sent to jail. This is our June 2024 roundup of law-breakers sentenced to immediate imprisonment. It was a month dominated by awful drivers and child sexual predators.

Muhammed Waqas
Muhammed Waqas crashed his Audi SQ5 into a tree in Nechells and killed his 19-year-old passenger. He had been uninsured and travelling at up to 108mph before he lost control and hit the central reservation. Waqas, of Dolphin Road, Birmingham admitted causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by driving while uninsured. He was sentenced to eight years.
Kwame Dalila
A revolver and bullets were found at Kwame Dalila’s home in Wolverhampton. The 27-year-old, of Oxford Street pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as violent disorder for a separate incident. He was sentenced to five years for the gun charges and 18 months for the latter.
Tarik Al-Mitheab
Tarik Al-Mitheab stabbed former friend Mahmoud Alabdullah to death in the street. The 22-year-old followed the victim as he drove past him to pick up an associate in Cherrywood Road, Bordesley Green and then confronted him. After the fatal stabbing Al-Mitheab fled to a McDonald’s with another friend. Then, after going to sleep, he went to a Greggs in Birmingham city centre before eventually handing himself in. He claimed he acted in self defence but his account was rejected and he was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life with a minimum of 20 years in prison.
