What’s got readers talking today? (Picture: Metro.co.uk / Getty)

In MetroTalk, could President Joe Biden’s waning popularity be boosted by pop mega-star Taylor Swift? And, readers talk about recently resigned England manager Gareth Southgate’s achievements – but are they knighthood-worthy? Meanwhile, one commenter shares why they’ll always be a cat person. Sorry, dog lovers. Share your thoughts on these topics and more in the comments.

As more Democrats call on Joe Biden to step down from the US presidential race over concerns about his age, perhaps the only way to persuade him is to get Taylor Swift to ask him?

No moon parties then…

Stephen jokes that a newly discovered cave on the Moon could be used as a nightclub for goths (MetroTalk, Thu). There’s no point having a nightclub on the Moon as there will be no atmosphere.

Richard Firth, Shipley

He may have resigned as manager but he has brought England out of the international wilderness and made them serious contenders again. They have to lose that Three Lions song, though. Otherwise – to quote your front page on Monday – the Lions will be weeping again on another night. I certainly wept when The Lion Sleeps Tonight knocked A Town Called Malice by The Jam off the top of the charts in 1982.

Thank you for your lovely, touching tribute to Gareth Southgate (Metro, Wed). It even made me, who is not a football fan, tear up. Well done!

A knighthood for failure? Couldn’t fans appreciate Southgate in other ways? (Picture: Jürgen Fromme – firo sportphoto/Getty Images)

Scott (MetroTalk, Thu) says Gareth Southgate should get a knighthood. I totally disagree with that nonsense. As England manager, he has never won anything, so he would be getting knighted for failure. In addition, knighthoods perpetuate the class divide. Surely there are other ways of showing your appreciation?

Dirty, dumb and dangerous

The poor man in Yeovil who had a seizure in bed that panicked his dog into mauling his face (Metro, July 9) is the victim of one of many dog attacks. You reported on a sausage dog that seriously disfigured a lady in Swansea in April. Dogs are the three Ds: dirty, dumb and dangerous. Cats, though, are clean, clever and cuddly.

What’s an ‘expat’ and sort it out West Ham station

Why do British people living abroad refer to themselves as expats when they are actually immigrants?

T, Glasgow

Well done to staff at London’s West Ham station who are guarding the barriers and guiding people to use the correct line. For a couple of months I was wondering how hard it was to follow a simple arrow. West Ham is the worst station in London in terms of people using the wrong lanes.

Too many reviews of our situations…
