An anime adaptation of Shu Sakuratani’s Rooster Fighter manga was announced at San Diego Comic Con this past Friday. A release date for the upcoming Rooster Fighter anime has not been revealed as yet, but the announcement came paired with a trailer and a key visual. What we do know is that when it does finally come out, it will be aired on Adult Swim.
Background and Production Information
One Brave Rooster Stands Against All Evil Rooster Fighter is a web manga series created by Shu Sakuratani and published on Hero’s Inc.’s Comiplex manga website since December 2020. The series is set in a world where mutant demons began appearing about three years prior to the events of the series and follows a mutant rooster named Kenji that has superhuman strength and a huge chip on his shoulder as a mutant dubbed “The White Demon” killed his sister. He wanders across Japan defeating any mutants he comes across with hope that he’ll one day find the White Demon and avenge his sister’s death. The seinen manga series has 7 volumes out as of January this year, and has developed an immense following in Latin American countries.
The upcoming Rooster Fighter anime series will be produced by Sanzigen (Black Rock Shooter 2012), a studio that specializes in CGI animation (hence the name being a derivation of “sanjigen”, which translates to 3D) and Sola Entertainment (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045). VIZ Media is the representative for the anime’s worldwide streaming, merchandising, TV broadcast of the Rooster Fighter anime outside of Japan, while Hero’s Inc. will be responsible for the same within Japan. The series will be directed by Daisuke Suzuki (creative director, Gurren Lagann), with series composition by Hiroshi Seko (screenwriter, Gachiakuta) and Sola Entertainment CEO Joseph Chou serving as producer. No cast information has been revealed at this point.
