It looks like glam diva Samantha is following the tips from Bollywood filmmakers and making her choices in movies. “She was advised against doing special numbers like ‘Oo Antava…’ and she has cited date issues when she was approached for a similar kind of number in ‘Pushpa The Rule’, ” says a source. He claims that Bollywood directors who are working with her regularly have reportedly advised her to retain her brand value and charisma by doing heroine-centric movies. “If she really feels that the item song in ‘Pushpa The Rule’ comes up really exciting enough and it has better reach than the previous one, she could consider, otherwise there is no need to groove for another chartbuster for the sake of it,” he adds.
Even though her colleague Tamannaah is doing item songs and raising the bar on special numbers, Samantha is holding her horses and would wait for a really exciting and foot-tapping number to wear her dance shoes again. “Filmmakers are willing to pay her more than Rs 3 crore for a song, yet she is shunning it because her focus now is to gain some mileage in Bollywood with series like ‘Honey Bunny’ and another one announced by directors Raj and DK,’ he points out.
Hence, she will be doing more lady-oriented movies and has already launched a film ‘Bangaram’ wherein she dons an author-backed role. ‘She could carry a film on her shoulders these days,” he concludes.
