Mara Hoffman may have shuttered her namesake label in May, but her best-selling pieces will continue to live on through a new partnership with Vestiaire Collective. The New York-based designer has teamed with the designer fashion resale platform for an archive sale featuring over 90 pieces from past collections, including looks seen on stars. Red carpet-ready highlights include the famed popcorn mini dress worn by Beyoncé and countless others, the Namari dress (seen on Mindy Kaling), the Mona dress (seen on Chrissy Teigen), the Leonara dress (spotted on Nicola Coughlan), the cult-favorite Sloane dress and many more. Bonus: THR readers can also save 20 percent off items from the sale with the code MARAHOFFMANXVC. “This partnership is a seamless way to bring continued life and longevity to the Mara Hoffman brand,” the designer says in a statement. “Our respective companies’ ethics and commitments have always aligned and we found this partnership to be an opportunity to celebrate and support each other. I am proud to expand the brand’s availability to a broader customer and for these timeless pieces to stay in circulation.” Hoffman founded her label in 1999 as a swimwear and resortwear line; 10 years ago, she phased out polyester and other synthetic fabrics, restructured her manufacturing chain and began offering Fair Trade Certified pieces made of wood pulp-sourced Tencel and other sustainable materials. Hoffman earlier this year announced that she was closing her eco-conscious label after “a gorgeous run of 24 years,” she wrote on Instagram on May 19. “We have been fighting for what feels like a long time to make this vision and model work in an industry that I believe deep down in its heart wants to heal and become better. But at the end of the day, its structure is archaic and was never built to prioritize Earth and its inhabitants.” She continued, “Our spring 2024 collection will be our last offering for the time being, allowing me the space to reset and redirect my vision and energy into other creative outlets. … It has been an honor to step into a position of responsibility, to become an example of change in this industry, and show the potential for new systems that are more loving, Earth centered, and kinder. … For anyone in this industry, specifically within the sustainability movement, you are aware that it has been far from easy on so many levels.” Hoffman toasted her partnership with the B Corp. online marketplace with Vestiaire Collective U.S. CEO Samina Virk during a Climate Week event on Sept. 24.
