We fell pregnant naturally despite spending thousands on IVF – after giving up everyday essential

A COUPLE who were saving up £7,000 for IVF are expecting a baby naturally — after giving up coffee. Caitlin Clarke and Jamie Small were crushed to learn fertility issues were hampering their parenting dream. The teenage sweethearts, both 27, had tried for years to conceive and forked out £1,000 on pregnancy tests to no avail. After learning they faced more years languishing on NHS waiting lists, they began putting cash away for a single round of IVF. To increase their chances of success, medics advised them to give up caffeine amid claims it can reduce fertility. And just weeks later, overjoyed Caitlin fell pregnant in February. Caitlin, a carer, then made a touching compilation video of the moment she and Jamie, a joiner, told their nearest and dearest their baby news – and the tear-jerking clip quickly went viral. The mum to be, of Stevenston, Ayrshire, recalled: “We couldn’t believe it. We were told to take certain vitamins for months. “Then we were told giving up coffee could help, so we did. We don’t know for sure that was what did the trick but as soon as we stopped drinking coffee, our dreams came true.” Their miracle baby is due on November 1. Caitlin added: “We felt so hopeless for so long and we struggled to cope with it and stay positive. “It was even putting a strain on us, we were both down and blaming ourselves. “You just have to stay strong and keep believing it will happen for you at the right time. “The doctors don’t know if it will ever happen for us again but I am so grateful we have managed to get this far.”
