Alison Hammond and her beau David Putman are totally smitten, with whispers of wedding bells in their future. Having turned heads due to their age difference, Alison, 49, is 22 years older than 27-year-old David. But despite this, the lovebirds have been getting on famously – even discussing marriage. The Great British Bake Off sensation is notably senior to her younger partner, who’s closer in age to Alison’s 19-year-old son Aidan than to her. But it seems there’s no drama here; Aidan has given his mum’s relationship the green light, and the trio even made a splash at their red carpet debut earlier this year. The family vibe was strong when Alison, David, and Aidan showed up together for a Candy Kittens event in London, hosted by Jamie Laing, back in June. When it comes to family matters, Alison opened up on the Parenting Hell podcast about how her son has taken to her new romance. Chatting with host Rob Beckett, she admitted that dating is trickier with a teen son who’s keen to suss out his mum’s partner, saying: “I think it’s more difficult. I think he’s more verbal now that he’s older, he will wanna to know who this person is and he’ll want to meet them..” She added that her son’s approval is key, noting: “It’s a lot harder, yeah. Because he’ll want to know that this guy is treating me well. The person that I’m seeing at the moment, he’s like on his Instagram. He’s like, ‘Yeah, I like him. I like him. He’s not too in your face.’ Do you know what I mean? Aidan’s on it.” Alison Hammond has revealed that she’s relieved her son Aidan approves of her new partner David, admitting that her child’s opinion is crucial in her relationships. In an interview, she shared: “Normally Aidan HATES anybody I date. Literally just not interested. And you just know at that point, if Aidan doesn’t like them, this isn’t going to work.” When asked if it sometimes feels like Aidan is the parent, Alison replied: “Yes, definitely. There are moments and I think, ‘Who’s the parent here? ‘ You know what I mean? I do feel that sometimes. It’s nice though because it’s like I’ve got somebody always there protecting me, looking over me, and he reminds me a bit of my [late] mum in some of the things he says.” As for her relationship with David, Alison and her partner are reportedly discussing marriage, with the TV star determined to “look her best” after her impressive 11-stone weight loss. A source close to Alison revealed that she’s feeling healthier and more confident than ever, with her career and personal life both thriving. The source added: “Her career is going from strength to strength and she loves being on This Morning with Dermot and audiences love her and she is very in demand.” “She’s also lost quite a bit of weight and while she’s always been happy with her body no matter what size, she feels very healthy and has been working out a lot more and taking care of herself. She’s glowing! “. The insider claimed the duo are even chatting about wedding bells in the future, as Alison “would love” to become a bride. Believing in love again It’s said that the two hit it off after Alison booked him for a £150 massage, leading a professional appointment to blossom into something more heartfelt. TV fave Alison, famous since her Big Brother days back in 2002, spilled the tea to The Sunday Times about how amicably she co-parents with her ex, Noureddine Boufaiedthe pair once said ‘I do’ but later went their separate ways. Describing her modern family vibe, she highlighted it’s “like a big family.” Despite this, she hasn’t shied away from admitting the toll her divorce took, dubbing it her “biggest failure and probably my only regret.” a sentiment she echoed in heart-to-heart with Paloma Faith, who nodded along, having walked a mile in similar shoes. Dishing on Alison’s romance with her dishy new man, a chatty source told us at OK! just how they overcame early bumps in the road: “They went through some tough times when they first started going out but David has made her believe in love again and has restored her faith in men.” “Add in the fact that she is very happy in her new relationship and has got Aidan’s approval and Alison couldn’t be happier. They have talked about marriage and although it’s quite soon, Alison would love to get married one day. And she wants to look her best when she does even if it’s not for a while.” The couple’s age difference has presented some challenges, including disapproval from David’s mum. However, they’ve tackled every obstacle together and emerged stronger, according to an insider. A source spilled to Closer magazine: “Alison is not going to be put off her new man by anyone, including friends and especially his mother. Alison argues that David is 26 going on 45 he’s not a teenager, he’s actually mentally more mature than she is.” The source continued: “Alison knew there would be resistance, and this is one of the reasons why they kept things under wraps in the beginning.” David’s mum Olga is reportedly “uncomfortable” with her son dating someone who holds more financial power than him, which goes against her “traditional values.” An insider told Closer: “Olga hasn’t said anything that Alison knew wouldn’t come. Alison confided to friends that all they ask is for a blessing. She thinks she should be happy for them and for her son after all, Alison would be if the role was reversed and it was Aiden. “. The insider revealed: “Alison understands David’s mother’s perspective, but she wants her to know that there’s no need for concern they’re in love. She finds it unfortunate, but thankfully, David despite his deep affection for his mum truly loves Alison. She isn’t seeking approval, she just wishes the key people in their lives could share their joy.” Making their relationship public Alison first spilled the tea on her romance with David back in April, leaving fans gobsmacked during a live TV reveal. Then, on September 13, while chatting with Paloma Faith on This Morning, Alison let slip a rare personal insight into her blossoming relationship. Discussing dating app mishaps with Paloma, Alison cheekily enquired, “But you’ve got someone lovely in your life and you’re happy,” prompting Paloma to respond with a giggle, “I’m not commenting on that,”. Alison simply beamed and expressed, “I just hope you have, I just want you to be happy,” while her co-host Dermot O’Leary teased Paloma, saying Alison “was just feeling the love,” at that moment. Alison warmly responded: “I love love at the moment… I’ve got someone special and you’ve got someone special and you’ve got someone special,” acknowledging both Paloma and Dermot. This adorable exchange followed a minor mix-up earlier in the year when Alison sported a stunning pink diamond ring on her ring finger on the show, sparking engagement rumours after she caught sight of headlines. Alison expressed her shock on the show, saying: “Oh my God apparently I am engaged? ! ” She quickly set the record straight, denying the engagement and explaining the mix-up: “Oh I have put this on the wrong finger… Let me swap it over to stop these rumours,” and promptly moved the ring to a different finger on live TV. David, who stands at an impressive 6ft 10 inches tall, hails from Russia and is a model by profession.
