This story can’t be real. A 12 ounce can of Dr. Pepper has 39 grams of sugar. That’s basically 10 teaspoons of sugar in one soda can. 4.5 liter equals about 152.163 ounces, so he was drinking almost 500 grams of sugar every day. That’s more than 123 teaspoons of sugar in one day.

I’ve had one can of Doctor Pepper and it was enough for me, I found it too sweet. It was the Canadian version, I heard the U.S. version is worst.
But regular Coke will do, I know because I used to drink about 2 litters a day (I started in the afternoon) and it really damaged my teeth. There was a even a round hole between my two front incisors when I still had them.

I visited Britain when I was a kid and drank blackcurrant squash straight out of the bottle. I had no idea you had to dilute it. It was pretty vile.

There are a few reasons why I can honestly say I’m kinda glad I grew up poor. Lack of unfettered access to soda is one of them.
