The BBC managed to save itself just moments before what could have been the biggest slip-up of the year. The broadcaster is no stranger to awkward blunders, after newsreader Lukwesa Burak once forgot she was on air, and Maryam Moshiri’s infamous middle finger incident. There’s also been a few strange ongoings in the background however, and a report today was no different. Political journalist Gemma Dillon was reporting live from Morley when some teenagers in the background decided to joke around. Viewers were left distracted from her comments on the local council, which included ‘anti-social behaviour on the high street’, by what was happening behind her. Dressed in just shorts presumably due to the heatwave, teenagers waved to the camera, while another decided to walk back and begin to pull down his shorts. That was a close call (Picture: BBC) Gemma Dillon had been talking about anti-social behaviour (Picture: X/BBC) Thankfully, at the last moment, the BBC broadcast ended, before viewers were left having seen a little too much. The young man in question may have just been readjusting, he did however walk back into the camera’s view after noticing it. ‘And the gallery takes a big sigh of relief,’ X account @PATVOne1 wrote. ‘That was about to end on a bum note,’ @antshar laughed while BBC correspondent Paul Murphy praised Gemma for remaining calm despite the disruptions. ‘I love live broadcast,’ @untemperedlink added.
