The latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show featured rappers Divine, Karan Ahuja, and Badshah. During the conversation, host Kapil Sharma pointed out Divine’s latest collaboration with American rapper Nas. Turns out this association drew its first breath on the sets of Ranveer Singh-starrer Gully Boy. For those who don’t know, the Zoya Akhtar film was largely inspired by the journey of hip-hop artiste and rapper Divine. During the show, Divine shared, “Ranveer and I spent a lot of time together during Gully Boy. We did a lot of time pass and made few songs. I am proud to be a part of that film.” Divine also shared how the hip-hop genre has not been taken very seriously in India. “In India, no one was taking hip hop so seriously, it was treated like a filler in Bollywood,” he said. The singer added, “There are many kids like me who even if don’t come to Bollywood, they are huge.” Also Read | The Great Indian Kapil Show 12th episode first impression: Kapil Sharma serves concert instead of comedy View this post on Instagram A post shared by Netflix India (@netflix_in) Also Read: Badshah tells Kapil Sharma a fan requested for a selfie in the washroom: ‘Kahin ajeeb si jagah…’ Divine also talked about his collaboration with Nas. He said, “The collaboration happened during Gully Boy. He was giving his music to the movie and working in it as well, so through that, I got to know him. He liked the way I wrote. Someone had told him that we spoke in the same manner and he too is a rapper who came from the streets. There was some similarity that clicked. We have 4 albums together now.” Nas and Divine have collaborated on the albums, Kohinoor, Punya Paap, Gunehgar and Street Dreams.
