Prabhas’ Sci-Fi Epic Continues Breaking Box Office Records in its Third Week
Prabhas’ recently released blockbuster science fiction film Kalki 2898 AD has continued its dominant run at the box office even in its third week. According to reports from film trade analysts, the Nag Ashwin directorial earned an estimated 6.7 crore rupees from theatres across the country on its fifteenth day, bringing its total domestic collections to over 543 crore rupees. Featuring a star-studded cast including Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan alongside Prabhas, the movie has managed to attract large crowds to cinemas since releasing two weeks ago. While collections saw a significant drop in the second week, it has remarkably held its ground against no major competition in the third week. With the latest figures, Kalki 2898 AD has surpassed the lifetime box office numbers of some major commercial successes from last year. It now stands as the highest earner of 2024 so far, beating Hrithik Roshan’s action thriller Fighter which stood at around 200 crore rupees. Furthermore, the science fiction epic has overtaken Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Sunny Deol’s sequel to his classic Gadar, marking both as some of the biggest Bollywood blockbusters overcome. Unless faced with very competitive new releases this coming weekend, trade experts expect Prabhas’ movie to continue adding to its phenomenal collections. It looks increasingly likely to zoom past Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal’s lifetime domestic total of 556 crore rupees to set a new benchmark. With audiences and critics praising its cinematic scale and visual spectacle, Kalki 2898 AD has cemented its status as one of the biggest commercial successes for the Indian film industry in recent times.
