The Harris-Walz campaign is clapping back at Donald Trump using the lyrical prose of one Taylor Swift. On Sunday, the former president took to Truth Social with his latest response to Swift endorsing his opponent, Kamala Harris, for President of the United States. He wrote simply, “I hate Taylor Swift!” In response, the campaign office of Harris and her Vice President pick, Tim Walz, issued a lengthy statement mocking Trump with several references to Swift’s music. “We’re pretty sure it’s Safe (& Sound) to say Donald Trump’s week has him Down Bad,” the press release began. “Mr. Not-at-all Fine has spent this week working through his feelings, whining about his Champagne Problems, and spending exactly none of his time addressing the issues facing the American people.” It continued, “His rambling, yelling, and constant conspiracy theories have many asking if The Man is “too emotional” to be president. Call it What You Want, but it’s Nothing New for the Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.” The statement went on referencing Swift’s expansive discography with lines including, “Trump and his inner circle of extremists can’t seem to Shake it Off as the Bad Blood between Trump, his running mate.” The release then went on to cite difficulties Trump’s campaign has faced in the past week, including his performance in the Sep. 10 debate against Harris. In an additional statement, Harris-Walz spokesperson Sarafina Chitika said, “Donald Trump’s week of whining and spouting conspiracy theories has voters on both sides of the aisle ready to Forget That He Existed. The American people want to be Out of the Woods of the chaos and division of the Trump era, leave behind the Blank Space of Trump’s broken promises, and Begin Again by electing Vice President Harris to ensure America’s future of opportunity is Long Lived.” She continued, “Together, we can turn the page on the Trump Era and write a new chapter where all Americans Breathe easy knowing we have strong, steady leadership at the helm. We can make sure The Story of Us is one of progress—and show Donald Trump we are not going Back to December of 2020. Like ever.” Following the conclusion of the highly anticipated debate between Trump and Harris in Philadelphia, Swift shared an impassioned Instagram post throwing her support behind Vice President Harris while urging her fans to register to vote and do their own “research” on the issues. “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” wrote the 34-year-old singer-songwriter. “She fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.” She signed off the post with the title “Childless Cat Lady,” a reference to a widely maligned comment from Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, who referred to single women in the Democratic party as “childless cat ladies” in a 2021 interview with Tucker Carlson. Trump initially responded via an appearance on Fox News where, despite previously sharing AI-generated images of Swift supporting him, he stressed that he “was not a Taylor Swift fan,” adding that “it was just a question of time” before she endorsed a Democrat. “She’s a very liberal person, she seems to always endorse a Democrat,” Trump said. “And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”
