Coronation Street is lining up dramatic scenes next week on the cobbles when one character returns. Next week, Fiz Stape is left floored when she bumps into husband Tyrone Dobbs’ ex Alina Pop in Fresco’s car park. Soap fans will recall that Alina, played by Ruxandra Porojnicu, was last seen on the cobbles back in 2021, where she fled the cobbles to Romania and hinted at a secret pregnancy with Tyrone’s baby. Alina left Weatherfield after discovering that Tyrone had lied to her and even kissed his then ex Fiz. After discovering that she was pregnant, Tyrone quickly rushed after Alina where he was able to talk to her before she departed the cobbles in a taxi. Alina told Tyrone that he will have nothing to do with her baby, she said: “This baby will have nothing to do with you. So get that into your thick skull and quickly!” However, after chasing after Alina, she told a crushed Tyrone that she wasn’t actually pregnant as she left to go home to Romania. The character said: “It can’t happen because there is no baby. There never was. I’ve got my dates wrong, I thought I was pregnant but I wasn’t. So there’s no reason for you to be here, no reason at all…” However, at the end of the episode, it appeared that Alina had been lying as she tenderly cradled her stomach and refused an alcoholic beverage, hinting she was in fact pregnant. In scenes next week, upon Fiz seeing her husband’s ex, Alina explains she’s been called as a witness in a trial but will Fiz tell Tyrone about her encounter? Meanwhile, later at the cab office, Tyrone’s mum Cassie Plummer’s eyes widen as she sees a customer’s name on an airport booking. Taking Steve’s cab, she helps Alina into the car before driving her straight to Weatherfield to see Tyrone. Alina is left furious over being conned but how will Tyrone react upon seeing his ex and has he got a secret child? When she departed the cobbles back in 2021, actress Ruxandra posted a tribute to her colleagues. She wrote at the time: “And that’s a wrap on Corrie! Thanks to everyone who encouraged and supported me. It meant so much. I worked with some of the finest people, who are not only extremely talented but very humble and caring. They made me feel welcome and a part of this beautiful family. TA EVERYONE! People up north are well nice.” Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
