Allison Holker is opening up about her Father’s Day plans with her kids two years after the death of their dad Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss. Speaking to PEOPLE at the BirthFUND Brunch Fundraiser in Los Angeles, the professional dancer, 36, says the summer holiday has “already been hard” on her daughters Zaia, 3, and Weslie, 15, and son Maddox, 8. The dancer died by suicide in December 2022 at age 40. “It’s already been hard on my children, to be honest,” she explains. “We were at church on Sunday, and there’s a lot of talk about getting ready for Father’s Day, and I could see tears starting to well up in their eyes.” The mom of three shares the importance of honesty and vulnerability in their family, adding that they “embrace” the difficult emotions that arise. “But they embrace it and we just have conversations about it. And they just come to me, they come be honest with me, and we embrace each other and hug each other and maybe cry it out a little bit.” Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from juicy celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. As for their Father’s Day plans, “We decided that we’re going to go to his gravestone,” she says. “We’re going to have a little picnic and talk with him, talk about memories that we have.” Holker’s goal is to celebrate the joyful memories that she and her kids have with the late DJ. “There’s a lot of pain that comes with it, but I also want to make sure we find some grace in it as well and find times to celebrate what we once had and that we can change and grow and evolve now as a family,” she explains. “But I want to make sure that they still have moments where they can express the joy that they’ve had with him as well.” The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! Holker recently celebrated Mother’s Day by sharing her love for her little ones in a post on Instagram on Sunday, May 12. “HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all you beautiful women out there! Being a mother is one of the biggest blessings in my life,” Holker captioned a post featuring photos from a shoot in which her family was dressed to the nines in evening wear, holding silver disco balls. “My children bring me so my light, love, comfort, support, curiosity and purpose. There is a bond we share and protect,” she continued. Holker added: “These three angels bring so much joy to the world… the spirit in them just lifts everyone up around them. I will sit in this day full of gratitude for the love I’m graced with!!”
