COUNTRY music icon Susan McCann was left in tears after she received a huge honour on the Late Late Show. The biggest names in Irish country music joined host Patrick Kielty for tonight’s special show, which saw one household name inducted into the Irish Country Hall of Fame. The Late Late Show Country Music Special is one of the most popular episodes of the series and is second to The Late Late Toy Show in it’s demand for audience tickets. Patrick was joined the queens of country, Susan McCann, Philomena Begley and Margo. Susan was inducted into the Irish Country Hall of Fame by the Co Down presenter. The Armagh native was blown away and so grateful for the incredible award. Looking completely shocked, Susan said: “It means the world, thank you so much. My kids will be thrilled. “I have my daughter with me tonight, she’s here to look after her mammy and she will be delighted.” With tears in her eyes, the choked up singer added: “That’s all I can say, sorry I’m emotional now. Really, thank you so much.” The chart-topping artist laughed: “My wee grandson tells everybody he’s famous, because he has a famous granny, so he likes to tell everybody he’s famous too.” Fellow country companions, Philomena and Margo also paid a lovely tribute to Susan. Philomena exclaimed: “I’m so proud of you Susan, we go back a long way almost 50 years.” While Margo kindly added: “Last year when I got it I said to Susan, ‘You’ll be next’. I'”m just so proud Susan. I’m happy that you have got this award truly.” To finish out the night, the country queens signed off on Susan’s huge award with a beautiful rendition of Sonny by May Black. RTE viewers all ran to Twitter to share their reactions to Susan’s major honour. Lorna wrote: “Delighted for Susan McCann. And it’s always lovely to see the 3 Queens of Country together. All look fabulous.” Aoife gushed: “Susan is a golden girl.” Ursuala added: “Arguably the BEST Irish country singer.” And Tommy said: “Go on Susan!”
