Cambridge Pride is soon to return for its fourth year and this summer the event is going to be bigger than it ever has been before. Usually kept to Jesus Green, this year the event is taking to the streets of Cambridge. The highlight of summer in Cambridge for the LGBTQ+ community, Cambridge Pride is a one day event that celebrates the joy of the community and invites the whole city to join in on the fun. The organisers describe Cambridge Pride as a “free, family-friendly day of music, variety, protest and interactivity across the beautiful Jesus Green. You can visit their website for more information here. When and where is Cambridge Pride? Cambridge Pride is returning to Jesus Green in Cambridge city centre on Saturday, June 15. It will be Cambridge’s fourth pride event. Around 15,000 people attended the event last year. Do you have to pay to go to Cambridge Pride? Cambridge Pride is completely free to attend. However, there is a party happening at Jesus Green on June 14 that you will need to buy tickets for. Kickstarting Cambridge Pride 2024, Cambridge Pride teams up with local cabaret NOW! That’s What I Call… Drag! to throw a party with British drag cabaret starring some of East Anglia’s finest drag stars Knuckle Sandwich and Will Power. Tickets cost £10. Find more information and purchase tickets here. The Grand Arcade will also be hosting an event with Cambridge Pride on Wednesday, June 12 called Rainbow Runway. The event includes a Drag Bingo followed by a Fashion Show featuring Grand Arcade’s brands and models from the LGBT+ community. Tickets cost £10 and includes one drink. Find more information and purchase tickets here. Will there be a parade? For the first time ever, Cambridge Pride will have a parade. Cambridge Pride organisers said: “Organising this for the first time has been a huge undertaking, and it hasn’t been easy getting the necessary permission and procedures in place to close roads, divert traffic and ensure crowd safety.” The Cambridge Pride parade will begin at noon. The organisers have advised those going to turn up at 11:30am to walk or wheel in the inclusive parade. The route will start at Jesus Green and travel through New Park St, Park St, Round Church St, St Johns St, Trinity St, Market St, Sydney St, Bridge St before turning back up to Round Church St back to Jesus Green. What music will be in the dance tent this year? There to entertain everyone wanting a good dance, the Dance Tent is a vibrant space where electrifying beats and unforgettable performances will be playing all day.
