As the sports calendar becomes even more exciting with the arrival of Wimbledon, it's hardly surprising that a host of high-profile names were in attendance. And fans were certainly not disappointed as stars including David Beckham, Myleene Klass, Sir David Attenborough and This Morning host Alison Hammond, made their way to enjoy the first day of the sporting event. But the hugely anticipated tournament took on a more regal aspect as Bridgerton's Queen Charlotte, played by Golda Rosheuvel was spotted as a guest of American Express. She was joined by her co-star Martins Imhangbe, who plays boxer Will Mondrich. Golda appeared to be inspired by her royal character as her hair was tied up in a high bun, showing off her sculpted cheekbones and she wore an elegant red and white striped dress. Meanwhile Martins opted for a stylish and elegant look as he wore a double-breasted beige suit teamed with a cream shirt and silver chain. The pair, along with other guests were invited to the American Express box which provides a great view of the court. Elsewhere, tennis ace Novak Djokovic, who is due to play on Tuesday July 2nd, revealed that he has gone against his wife's wishes by playing at Wimbledon. The tennis champ who has already secured seven trophies at the UK tournament, recently recovered from a knee injury that required surgery. And this is why his wife could not understand his urgency to take part at Wimbledon. Explaining his decision to Fox News, he said: "My wife also kind of asked the same question, right? Which is normal. (You are) 37-years-old, you want to maybe have less risk and prepare yourself for the Olympic Games? So from that perspective, I don't have an answer to that, but I do have something that is described as a feeling of not missing out at a grand slam while I can still play and while I'm still active and at this level." He added: "(But) I wouldn't call it a fear of missing out. I would just say it's this incredible desire to play, just to compete, particularly because it is Wimbledon, the tournament that always has been a dream tournament for me when I was a kid.Just the thought of me missing Wimbledon was just not correct. I didn't want to deal with that." Novak is set to play Vit Kopriva on the second day of Wimbledon. As always the tournament is of interest on many levels, the actual tennis matches, the fashion and the celeb-spotting. So it was no surprise to see pictures of David Beckham at the event on day one. Looking dapper in a light brown suit, he completed his look with a pair of sunglasses from his DB Eyewear range. Smiling for the cameras, he cut an elegant style as he was joined by his mother Sandra. But he nearly faced an awkward encounter with Katherine Jenkins after he had refused to apologise for his comments about her being awarded an OBE. The former England football captain allegedly said in a leaked email: "Katherine Jenkins OBE for what? F***ing joke." Katherine later said his words were hurtful and claimed she had not reached out to him or received an apology. The Welsh opera singer was pictured sat behind him but the two didn't appear to make an acknowledgment of one another.
