Another week of college football is here and this time there are College Football Playoff rankings to back up the slate of games and bring further meaning to them.
One dark horse candidate, No. 24-ranked Missouri, is taking on unranked Oklahoma in an SEC matchup that is going to spark an old rivalry, though history shows that the Sooners dominated the Tigers in the matchup.
This year, both programs have fallen significantly since the beginning of the season. The Sooners are a four-loss squad, though they’re seeming to find some level of direction after a mid-season offensive coordinator change.
Missouri has seen some key injuries alter their season, and they’ve also taken losses to Texas A&M and Alabama — both in embarrassing fashion.
This game could provide a big momentum swing to whichever program is able to come out on top, but Missouri has a dark horse chance at a College Football Playoff appearance.
Oklahoma’s defense is strong, though, and they could be facing Missouri’s backup quarterback as Tigers starting quarterback Brady Cook got a crucial injury update on Friday, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos.
“Missouri quarterback Brady Cook is viewed as doubtful for Saturday’s game against Oklahoma,” Nakos posted to social media. “He’s been listed as questionable on the SEC injury report this week as he works back from hand and ankle injuries.”
