Vera Wang’s 75th birthday included a special tribute to her inner child. The fashion designer counted down to her milestone celebration with a throwback picture of herself as a little girl. “CIRCA 1956. Just me. TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY AND ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE….?,” Wang wrote alongside the adorable Instagram photo. The image showed the mom of two smiling while wearing a checkered patterned dress.
Although she posted the photo on Wednesday, June 26, a day before her birthday, fans flooded the comment section with various celebratory messages. “Happiest of birthdays to you, hun ??❤️?,” one fan wrote. “Happy Birthday, Vera!!! You are truly timeless. I hope you have the best day,” another shared.
When her birthday officially hit, Wang shared a short video that dates back to when she won the 2013 Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. “In celebration of my 75th birthday, one of the most treasured moments of my 55 years in fashion and 35 years in business. Thank you @cfda for this unforgettable honor?,” Wang wrote about the moment on Instagram. The prestigious honor was presented to Wang by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) for her “consistent, creative influence on fashion.”
While catching up with PEOPLE in April, Wang said that her birthday plans were “up in the air” since “75 is a lot of pressure.” She did, however, emphasize that she is strongly looking forward to the future. “I think maybe a little bit like Warren Buffett [age 93] or Queen Elizabeth II [who reigned the British monarchy for seven decades until she died at 96], I’m just going to keep prodding on because I feel as though I’m able to do my best work more and more,” she said.
