The Dockers lost 23.11 (149) to 12.10 (82), just one game after thrashing Melbourne by 92 points in Alice Springs. It was their largest loss of the season and the team hadn’t conceded a score that high since 2018. Longmuir was stunned by the lack of pressure applied by his team and said he saw no indication this was possible during the week. “We need to have another look at it. We need to have a deeper dive. Clearly something wasn’t right. We just got dominated from go to woah,” he said. Through that period where they kicked out 12 or 13 goals, our pressure was 1.6 or something along those lines, and that hasn’t been us. We need to dig a bit deeper as to why. “I can’t really explain it at the moment. Going into the bye with a big win and everyone pumping our tyres up – I said to the players after the game that it looked like a team who was desperate to keep their season alive and a team who was comfortable.”Camera IconFremantle have soul searching to do Credit: Daniel Pockett/Getty Images Adding to the pain, Fremantle lost Michael Walters to a hamstring injury while Heath Chapman was a late withdrawal after reporting hamstring awareness on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs’ midfield controlled the game as Marcus Bontempelli finished with 30 possessions, seven clearances and three goals after a week where he battled illness. Tom Liberatore was also influential with 28 touches and 10 clearances while Adam Treloar collected 27 possessions and kicked one goal. Longmuir said they tried their best to stop Bontempelli to no avail. Is there a more effective way of doing it? But it felt like by trying to stop one we would have been at putting a finger in a hole and had water still pouring in.” Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Email Us Copy the Link Register and have your say.
