Emmerdale viewers are speculating about a potential new love interest for Charity Dingle, portrayed by Emma Atkins, despite her current marriage to Mackenzie Boyd, played by Lawrence Robb. Charity was recently taken aback when Ross Barton, played by Mike Parr, made an unexpected return to the village.
Charity and Ross have a past connection, sharing a son named Moses Dingle. But could a reunion be on the cards? Ross made a dramatic return to the ITV soap after six years away, with a major plot twist revealing him as Billy Fletcher’s (Jay Kontzle) opponent in a bare-knuckle fight.
Mack, who witnessed the violent confrontation, was surprised to see Moses watching his father fight Billy, prompting him to step in and remove the child from the warehouse.
Following this, a heartfelt conversation took place between Charity and Ross, during which he revealed that Rebecca White (Emily Head) had tragically passed away, leaving her son Seb in the care of an aunt in Bristol, reports Leeds Live.
Charity showed understanding as Ross explained how the sudden death led him down a dark path, but she didn’t hesitate to give him some parenting advice, encouraging him to reconsider before taking Moses to another illegal fight.
Ross also secured a job at Butlers Farm after expressing his financial concerns. However, it was evident that Mack was not pleased with his wife’s former lover’s return to the village, as he attempted to create a rift between Ross and Charity.
Ross embarked on a new chapter, starting his farm job on Friday (November 1), as he and Mack discussed a recent disturbance. Their interaction was notably tense, and the chill in the air lingered even as Ross took an urgent phone call.
Charity made an appearance to request Mack’s help with her son Moses, asking him to babysit for a few hours. Initially resisting due to Charity’s suggestion of Moses visiting his father, Mack eventually relented despite his busy schedule.
Ross, already unsettled from a confrontation with his boxing promoters, found himself patrolling the barn. Overwhelmed by panic and the sound of encroaching footsteps, he impulsively discharged a shot into the ceiling.
To his shock, it was Moses and Mack who he nearly endangered. Upon learning about the chilling episode, an incensed Mack pointed the finger at Ross’s parenting skills to Charity, who concurred that Ross needed to better himself.
However, Emmerdale fans are speculating wildly about Charity’s next move.
Social media platforms saw romance predictions for Charity and Ross. One person wrote: “The fact Charity did that face and is tempted by Ross I am seated and ready for a kiss to happen, please. She has had her head well and truly turned #emmerdale #charity #ross.”
Another lightheartedly chimed in: “We all know Charity is thirsting for Ross #Emmerdale” and yet another predicted: “I can see something happening between Charity and Ross #Emmerdale.”
One viewer speculated on the future of soap opera relationships, saying: “I have a feeling Charity and Ross are gonna get close again leaving Mackenzie to seek comfort from Aaron HOPEFULLY”, while another excitedly shared their own wish: “Is it bad I want charity and Ross together.”
