Ageless style SOS Julie Lloyd, 62, a community mental-health worker from London By Stephanie Sofokleous For You Magazine Published: 12:01 BST, 8 June 2024 | Updated: 12:01 BST, 8 June 2024 e-mail View comments Problem ‘I love wearing bold colours – partly because I work with people who have mental-health issues, so I like to dress brightly for them. However, my husband says I look like an explosion in a paint factory, so I need advice on what goes together. How do I catch people’s attention without my outfit clashing?’ Julie Lloyd, 62, a community mental-health worker from London Solution Julie was so much fun to style. She describes herself as a bit of a rebel, so I knew we could experiment with colours, shapes and textures. If you love brights, a block-colour outfit is a great place to start – just keep base layers and accessories neutral. As you slowly build the hues that work for you into your wardrobe, you’ll be able to mix and match. Here, the ruffle blouse breaks up the tailoring elements and keeps the look soft and feminine. Jacket, £325, and trousers, £250, both meandem.com. Blouse, £115, sisterjane.com. Sandals, £28, asos.com Julie’s verdict ‘As soon as I tried on this outfit, I knew it was perfect – it’s fantastic! There are some elements I usually wear, like bright colours, but others that push me out of my comfort zone, such as ruffled sleeves. I’ll definitely buy more shirts like this after seeing how good this one looks. I’m leaving with more ideas about how to style the colours I love, without my outfits looking too busy.’ If you’d like to be our next Ageless style SOS candidate, email [email protected] Hair: Elvire at Carol Hayes using Hair by Sam McKnight.
