NFL ace and budding podcast star Marlon Humphrey has dished out a playful jab at Travis Kelce, declaring “he has got to pay for what he has done” following the “New Heights” show signed a whopping £76million ($100m) deal. Travis Kelce, along with his brother Jason, both stars for the Kansas City Chiefs, have reportedly inked a lucrative pact with Amazon to have their popular podcast produced and distributed. Variety reports the hefty agreement is with Amazon’s Wondery service, spanning over three years. But it appears not everyone in the NFL is throwing confetti for the widely-celebrated brothers on bagging their big-time contract. Baltimore Ravens cornerback and new voice on the podcast scene with his own Punch Line show, Humphrey, admitted he’s watched their success with a hint of jealousy. In an episode this Monday, the jovial Humphrey quipped about Kelce: “I pray for this, to go against him because he has tried to take everything from me. He tried to take it all from me. He has got to pay. He has got to pay for what he has done to the podcast space. How he has tried to eliminate us.” “And, honestly, I don’t care who he’s dating,” Humphrey added, eagerly anticipating their next clash on the gridiron. “Did they get engaged? … Sept. 6 [the Ravens-Chiefs AFC championship rematch] it’ll be pod versus pod and we’ll see what heights is higher.” His co-host Jack Settleman then asked: “Maybe if you beat him, Amazon gives us the deal. Would you trash talk him and be like, ‘Oh, Taylor’s music is kinda trash? ” to which Humphrey responded: “He be talking a lot of trash but he is actually a cool dude though, it’s just football trash … What can you really say (about Taylor Swift )? “Because we’ve kinda been out, but I’m gonna say it anyway. If he started laughing, I’ll just laugh back. If he laughed, I’d laugh back ‘I was just kidding, bro! … Want to come on the show and be a guest? ‘ I probably should ask him after the game, like, ‘I have a pod too, bring Taylor’. That would do us numbers.” As for the upcoming season, Kelce seems eager to get back into action. Speaking about the new season, he said: “I’m excited. I get to play another year of football [with a] fresh slate. Get to kind of prove to ourselves and Chiefs Kingdom that we’re one of the top dogs and we can play at a high level.”. Speaking about the excitement of reuniting with his team for another season, the Chiefs veteran admitted that he is looking forward to stepping onto the field again. He shared: “I just love coming in here [and] I just love football and how it takes me away from life,””. “It gives me something I can feel genuinely happy about. I enjoy coming into the building, working on my craft, getting to understand a new game plan and perfecting that for the people around me. [It] gives me a purpose to kind of go about my day and to live my life and I have so much excitement doing it.”
