Strictly Come Dancing pro Jowita Przystał has addressed romance speculation surrounding her and celebrity dance partner Pete Wicks.
The 30 year old dancer acknowledged they share “very good chemistry together” before clarifying the nature of their relationship. Since being paired on the show, Jowita and Pete, 36, have displayed a strong bond on and off the dance floor, including her appearance on his podcast Staying Relevant and a reported ‘cosy’ encounter over drinks. Their connection sparked romance rumours, but Jowita set the record straight at the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards on Monday.
Speaking to OK! magazine on the red carpet, she said: “We have very good chemistry together as friends, we really get on well with each other, and we have so much fun together. And dancing is a bit like acting, so we’re telling a story every night on Saturday night, and I think we’re doing a pretty good job with that so…” Jowita, while discussing the pairing, admitted: “But we’re very good friends, and I love him so much as a brother, and I think we’re going to stay friends for life, to be honest.”
And she couldn’t contain her fondness for Pete’s close pal, Sam Thompson, saying: “Don’t tell Pete, but Sam is my favourite, I honestly love it when he comes round to the rehearsal room, he’s such a ray of sunshine.” Jowita gushed further: “I always welcome him in, I absolutely adore this man, and I think him and Pete have such a beautiful relationship, their friendship is above and beyond. To have him and to have his support, he literally supports Pete all the way, so it’s just so lovely to see that.” The dynamic between the three clearly amuses Jowita as she teased: “I’m always saying, ‘Sam you’re always welcome to come’, I don’t think Pete is on the same page, but I always welcome Sam.”
Sharing a sneak peek into her training schedule with Pete, she revealed that they had been working hard on Monday morning, and she praised Pete’s dedication saying that he’s “taking the competition very seriously” as he “really wants to learn”. Despite the seriousness, laughter is never too far away. “Although we have times when we just can’t stop laughing, and we had that one today”, said Jowita. With a hint of excitement concerning their upcoming Strictly performance, she teased: “As you know, I love to put special things in our routine, so this week as well, something special is coming up.”
The Pride of Britain Awards 2024 will air on ITV and ITVX on Thursday at 8pm.
