Las Vegas never fails to constantly reimagine itself, but these past several months have been particularly big for the city. Having played host to Formula 1 and the Super Bowl, the destination has garnered more attention than ever. And with these marquee sporting events came a slew of head-turning additions to Sin City. The arrival of the long-awaited Fontainebleau and Sphere certainly played key roles in this, but several other new spots around town are also creating some buzz. Here, we take a closer look at some of the most recent openings on the Las Vegas Strip and beyond that are worth checking out this summer.

Evan Funke’s Mother Wolf is arguably the hottest restaurant in town right now. Having gained a cult-like following in Los Angeles (Funke is also behind the equally popular Felix Trattoria in Venice Beach), it was one of the most anticipated restaurants to open at the new Fontainebleau Las Vegas and the James Beard–nominated chef has certainly delivered. An homage to the Eternal City and Roman cuisine, the stars are the handmade pastas, particularly the fettucini al burro and rigatoni all’Amatriciana. Just don’t forget to start with the succulent blue prawns dressed in a green garlic salsa verde and end with the budino—both so exquisite that you’ll remember them for a lifetime.

Chyna Club and Washing Potato
From the mastermind behind Hakkasan, restaurateur Alan Yau strikes again with two new hits: Chyna Club and Washing Potato. Strategically located next to the high-limit room and baccarat tables at Fontainebleau, the two side-by-side restaurants offer elevated Chinese cuisine in a modern setting. The dinner-only Chyna Club transcends usual archetypes with its library-inspired interiors and eclectic music from around the world, but still serves one of the best Peking ducks in Vegas. And in a city where there are several spots that do this famous dish justice, that’s really saying something. Equally enticing, and eccentric, is Washing Potato. If you judged it solely by appearances, the cyberpunk-esque dining room with mid-century modern furnishings and roaming spotlights would never lead you to think this was a dim sum restaurant. But the drama sets the stage for some fantastic bites, all steamed to order. Expect all the classics like har gow, chicken feet, and lotus leaf–wrapped glutinous rice, alongside newer adaptations like scallop shumai and char siu pineapple buns. And wash it all down with one of the lightly sweetened house iced teas.
