Police are on the hunt for two men and one woman after a British tourist was robbed and sexually assaulted on a street bench in central Madrid. The 39-year-old was reportedly leaving a nightclub in the Spanish capital before the trio noticed her “disorientated and under the effects of alcohol”. The group pretended to offer her help, but then led her to a bench where they stole all her belongings including cash, jewellery and her mobile phone. One of the male thieves then fled the scene along with his female accomplice, but the second man is said to have stayed with his victim briefly and sexually assaulted her on the street bench before also fleeing when he noticed he had been spotted by a witness. The holidaymaker was then taken to hospital for medical tests after locals raised the alarm. The incident happened around 3am on Thursday, September 5. Police are set to interview the woman later today and sift through footage from CCTV cameras in the area for clues. The ongoing investigation is being led by a specialist women’s assistance unit of the National Police called UFAM, and there have been no reports of any arrests so far. It comes just two months after a British woman was reportedly raped by another tourist she had met in a nightclub in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, on July 3. The 18-year-old victim alerted cops after she allegedly woke up in another tourist’s bed, who is also believed to be British. The alleged attacker is said to have introduced himself to the woman whilst she was out with her friends. They were said to have partied together in the nightclub before they returned to the hotel that they were both staying at. She said he helped her get dressed and had to carry her back to her room, but the 19-year-old male disputed the claim and said she fell asleep in his room with her clothes on. An investigation has been launched as police look at CCTV to establish what happened throughout the night. In a seperate incident in May this year, a bar worker in Majorca was arrested after a British tourist was allegedly forced to have sex with him. Initial weekend reports pointed to a bar manager forcing himself on the 19-year-old in the street after plying her with alcohol in S’Illot, a small tourist town on the island’s south east coast, while two friends watched and did nothing to prevent the alleged sex attack. It later emerged that all three men had been held over what officials are now describing as a “multiple” sexual assault in a storeroom area behind the bar, which was reportedly filmed on a mobile phone.
