BBC Breakfast Subject to Huge Shake-Up

BBC Breakfast was subject to a huge shake-up this weekend as it was pulled off BBC One. The BBC staple – which airs on the channel seven days a week – was forced to switch as telly bosses made a significant schedule change. Viewers could watch the news and lifestyle show for just 45 minutes on Saturday on BBC One, from 6am to 645am.

Then they needed to channel hop to BBC Two as the programme continued, with coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympics taking pride of place on BBC One. Yet it was still a shorter BBC Breakfast instalment for fans. The TV schedule told how Naga Munchetty, 49, and Charlie Stayt’s programme would wrap at 8am – and instead be replaced by series One Zoo Three.

Yet regular viewers of the series were pleased to see Charlie, 62, and Naga back on the iconic red sofa together after a series of presenter changes. And it wasn’t smooth sailing for the duo yesterday after their episode was plagued with of on-air chaos. Naga had been presenting a segment when footage scheduled to play on a screen behind her failed to do so. After a long pause on the article about campaign Farm Watch, Naga addressed the mishap and said: “Well you could have had a look but we haven’t got it, unfortunately. “But what we can do is show you a feed in this moment in time…”

After showing the video, Naga realised another error occurred as she added: “Well, it is a frozen combine harvester. This is great.” Meanwhile, earlier this month, the pair were forced to keep a cool head and present as normal as the studios around them were evacuated.

BBC Breakfast has been subject to numerous switch ups over the past few weeks as coverage of the sporting competitions in the French capital has taken precedence. Team GB scooped a whopping six medals yesterday. This included a silver medal for heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson. The presenting pair also chatted to Team GB’s Toby Roberts, who won a gold on Friday in the Climbing Men’s Boulder and Lead final. He showcased the “thin” skin on his hands after his epic climbing feat saw him triumph at the Bercy Arena.
