Former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Jerome Rothen has hit out at France captain Kylian Mbappe after his move to Real Madrid was confirmed earlier this month. Mbappe recently joined Real Madrid on a free transfer after his contract with PSG expired. However, Rothen has slammed his fellow compatriot for his lack of respect for PSG, especially during his final season with the French Ligue 1 champions. He said the 25-year-old betrayed the Parisians, adding that he was angry at him “For five months, when Kylian does not make enough effort, it is not a problem of the coach, of the leaders, of the president, of the supporters. … It is just a problem of respect. When you put yourself in the category of the best players in the world, you have to have the attitude that goes with it. You have to fight for your teammates, for your country, for your club,” Rothen said on RMC Sport (via GOAL). “I think he betrayed us in everything. Throughout the season it was catastrophic from start to finish in terms of images and communication. I am really angry with him because when I see him in the French team with the banana; it’s not possible.”
