The Pune police have detained the boy who allegedly consumed drugs in a lounge in Maharashtra’s Pune after a video of some underage boys consuming substances surfaced on social media. The detention follows the arrest of at least 14 persons, including the franchise owner, event organiser, and waiters. Four police personnel have also been suspended after the L3 bar was found operating beyond the permissible time limit and a video of ongoing drug abuse inside the premises went viral. The eight persons who were arrested earlier were identified as Santosh Kamthe, Vitthal Kamthe, Yogendra Girase, Ravi Maheshwari, Akshay Kamthe, Dinesh Mankar, Rohan Gaikwad, Manas Mallick, were remanded in police custody till June 29 by a court here, the official said. Earlier today, the Maharashtra Excise Department suspended two of its inspector-rank officers for alleged dereliction of duty in connection with the probe. The official also said they have seized 241 litres of foreign liquor and other materials valued at Rs 3 lakh from the Liquid Leisure Lounge, which is located on Pune’s Fergusson College Road. The authorities suspended the bar license of the famous lounge. ‘Run Bulldozers on Such Pubs’: Eknath Shinde Orders Strict Probe Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde spoke to Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar and directed him to initiate strict action against illegal pubs and bulldoze all structures flouting building rules. A statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in Mumbai said Shinde directed the police to initiate renewed action against peddlers to make Pune a drug-free city and use bulldozers against illegal structures linked to narcotic substances. Meanwhile, a primary police probe was after a viral video purportedly showed some persons with a drug-like substance at Liquid Leisure Lounge.
